This is the best open source shopping cart that I've ever had a chance to work with. Unlike most shopping cart scripts that either use compiled code (like Interchange/Minivend) or are just plain bulky and run slow, the CITY Shop is modularized and relatively object-oriented. The best feature is that it is 100% customizable if you know a little Perl. It's fast because it only uses what modules are needed at the time, but it also can be run under mod-perl. New versions come out whenever needed and there's also a forum all about the script with many active users.

I HIGHLY recommend trying out this script before throwing away tons of cash on a state-of-the-art "solution" that you're just going to have to upgrade in a few months anyway.
